CHICKEN RACES
You’ve heard the term “running like a chicken with its head off”, right?
In this event we will place li’l buckeroos at each end of the rodeo arena & on GO it’s their job to wrangle 20-40 rascally chickens that have been let loose at center arena!
CALF DRESSIN’
With this event we bring a whole new meaning to “Ranch Dressing” as these 4 man/woman teams work together get a t-shirt on the head and BOTH front legs of a rowdy haltered calf released from the bucking chute at the end of the arena! Once dressed the team must lead their calf across the chalk line to leave victorious!
BOOT RACES
This event is a boot scootin’ good time as tots of all ages find their way to the arena, remove one boot (or shoe) and line up at one end of the arena, leaving their other in a pile in company with the other participants! On go the kiddos will sprint to find their second boot (or shoes) and once securely back on their foot, go speeding back across the arena to the finish line!
RAWHIDE RACES
This wild event is a timed event! Watch as each 2 man/woman team races from one end of the area to the other, one on horseback and the other hanging on for dear life behind on a piece of rawhide! Fastest team to make the furthest end of the arena, around a rodeo barrel and back to the beginning without being bucked off or rolling off the rawhide is named WINNER!
MUTTON BUSTIN’
This event is a Marias Fair favorite that has found its way back into the arena after many years! Similar to bull riding these brave li’l buckeroos will be placed on the back of sheep and let out of a bucking chute, bouncing and bounding atop the squirrelly sheep!
SWEETHEART RACES
Grab your sweetheart (or whoever you’d like to be your second) and swing ‘em in this 2 man/ woman event where one team member will stand on a rodeo barrel at one end of the rodeo arena and the other will be on horseback with the task of retrieving their partner placed atop the barrel and ride back double across the finish line! Don’t doddle or drop your dearest partner as it will result in a “no time”, quickest time without fumbling wins!
3 MAN/ WOMAN STEER MUGGIN’
Riders will start from head box area behind chalk line, steer will be turned out of roping chute, steer must cross the starting line before riders can start, time will start as soon as steer crosses line. Riders must head steer and then they can either mug it down or heel it and mug it down, they must tie 3 feet and clear hand to stop the clock. Steer must stay tied for 6 seconds. No loop limit 4 minute time limit.
